Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Spice Data ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Spice Capture mobile application (the "App") and the website at spicecapture.com (the "Site").

1. Who this app is for

Spice Capture is a business tool for contractors we work with. It is not intended for consumers or for children under 13. If you did not receive a Worker ID from us, you are not the intended user.

2. Information we collect

• Worker ID (UUID) — a unique identifier we issue you so we can attribute submitted work to your account.
• Worker name — the name associated with your Worker ID in our records.
• Photos and videos that you capture and upload via the App.
• Precise location (GPS) captured at the moment you take a photo, used to tag the photo to the correct job site.
• Timestamps for each capture and upload.

We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, contacts, calendar data, health data, browsing history, or biometric data. We do not use tracking cookies on the Site.

3. How we use information

We use the information above solely to operate the App: authenticating your Worker ID, matching captured photos to the correct job site, storing the resulting records, and communicating with you about the service.

We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to the App's core function.

4. How information is stored

Photos and videos are stored in encrypted object storage (DigitalOcean Spaces, US region). Metadata is stored in a PostgreSQL database in the United States. All data transmission uses HTTPS.

5. Third parties

We do not share your information with third-party advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers. We use standard infrastructure providers (hosting, storage) that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. If we ever add third-party processors that receive your photos or personal information, we will update this policy and disclose them in the applicable app-store privacy questionnaires.

6. Retention

Photos and associated metadata are retained for as long as our contract with the operator of the job site requires, or as long as needed to complete the work you submitted. You can request deletion at any time (see below).

7. Your rights

You can request that we delete the data associated with your Worker ID by submitting the form at spicecapture.com/delete-my-data. You can also sign out of the App from the settings screen, which removes your Worker ID from the device.

If you are located in California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability), contact us at info@spicedata.com and we will respond within the timelines required by law.

8. Security

We use HTTPS for all network traffic, encrypted storage, and UUID-based authentication. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties will never obtain access, but we take reasonable measures to prevent it.

9. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will delete the associated data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated in the App.
